What is a pre-paid funeral?

A pre-paid funeral lets you plan and pay for your funeral in advance, at today’s prices. You choose the details, from burial or cremation to a church service or a life celebration, and we record your wishes. Your money is placed in a funeral bond in your name, which is paid to us only when the time comes.

Pre-paying is easy – once it’s done you won’t need to think about it again

Once you’ve spoken with us and selected what you would like for your funeral, we record it all for you for when the time comes.

We place your money into a Funeral Bond, which is backed by major banks. The bond is in your name, and can only be paid to the funeral director (us) on production of a death certificate.

It means your family will never have to worry about the costs, as you’ve taken care of everything for them.

How does a funeral bond work?

A funeral bond holds the money for your funeral until it is needed. When you pre-pay with us, your money is placed in a funeral bond in your name. It can only be paid to us, as your funeral director, on production of a death certificate. Your family does not have to find the money at a hard time, because it is already set aside.

Is a pre-paid funeral better than funeral insurance?

They work differently, and many people prefer the certainty of pre-paying. With funeral insurance you pay premiums over time, and the policy pays a set amount when you die. A pre-paid funeral pays for the funeral you have chosen, at today’s prices, so your family knows exactly what is covered. We are happy to explain how pre-paying works so you can compare.

What can I include in a pre-paid funeral?

You can pre-pay for as much or as little of your funeral as you wish, including our service, the coffin or casket, and burial or cremation. We also record your wishes for the service itself, such as the music, readings, flowers and where it is held. Once it is done, your family will know exactly what you wanted.

Can my pre-paid funeral be a church service or a life celebration?

Yes, either. You might want a funeral at your own church with your minister or priest, or a life celebration that focuses on your life and is usually led by a trained, accredited celebrant, with as much or as little faith as you wish. We record your choices so your family can follow them with confidence.

What happens if prices go up after I pre-pay?

The funeral goods and services you pre-pay with us are locked in at today’s prices, so your family will not be asked to pay more for them later. Some third-party fees, such as cemetery charges, may be treated differently, and we will explain exactly what is and is not covered before you commit.

What happens when the time comes?

Your family calls us on (02) 9630 9688, at any hour. We already hold a record of your wishes, so we can guide them straight away and there are fewer decisions for them to make. The funeral bond is paid to us once the death certificate is available, and we take care of the arrangements you chose.
