Chris Timmins, funeral director, Chris Timmins Funerals Parramatta

While times have changed, Chris continues this family tradition with the same compassion, understanding and personal attention that have always been at the heart of our service. With decades of experience, Chris understands the importance of respecting the many cultures, faiths and traditions that make up our diverse community. Whether arranging a traditional religious funeral, a modern life celebration or a service reflecting particular cultural customs and beliefs, Chris personally arranges and oversees every detail, ensuring that each farewell honours the family’s wishes, respects their traditions and provides a meaningful and dignified tribute to their loved one.

Chris’s story

A family tradition, carried on personally

Chris Timmins grew up in the family funeral business, continuing a tradition of caring for Sydney families that began in the 1950s. His late father, William “Bill” Timmins, together with his wife Sylvia, established their own funeral home in Parramatta in 1959. Working alongside his father, Chris learned the importance of listening, attending to the smallest details and offering calm guidance when families need it most.

He has also studied business and economics, combining traditional training with a clear understanding of changing community expectations, so every funeral is thoughtfully planned and professionally conducted.

Building on that foundation, Chris brings decades of practical experience to every arrangement: a deep appreciation of both the emotional and practical needs of families, and the care needed to make each farewell truly meaningful.

While our family tradition stretches back 75+ years, our approach to funeral service has continued to evolve. Chris combines the values and personal attention of a traditional family funeral home with a modern, flexible approach that embraces contemporary life celebrations, different cultural and religious traditions, and the individual wishes of today’s families. Experience has taught him that no two families are alike, and that every farewell deserves the time, understanding and care needed to make it truly meaningful.

Today, Chris personally arranges and oversees every funeral entrusted to his care. When you contact us, you are not passed between departments or treated as simply another arrangement. Chris takes the time to sit with your family, listen to the story of the person you have lost, understand your wishes and guide you through every decision, remaining personally involved from the first conversation through to the final farewell.

“Families place an enormous amount of trust in us at one of the most difficult times of their lives. After all these years, I have never taken that responsibility lightly. Every family deserves my personal attention, and every funeral deserves to be conducted with the experience, dignity and care that such an occasion demands.”

Our history

Serving Parramatta and Sydney families since the 1950s

For 75+ years, the Timmins family has cared for over 20,000 families across Parramatta, Western Sydney, the Hills District and beyond. Our story began in Parramatta, where successive generations have placed their trust in our experience, compassion and personal care.

Our first funeral home was established at historic Perth House in George Street, Parramatta, in 1959. Today that tradition continues at Norfolk House, 467 Church Street, North Parramatta, with modern facilities in Castle Hill for traditional funerals and contemporary life celebrations.

Over the decades we have operated from several historic residences across the Parramatta area, keeping our tradition of welcoming families into gracious homes. Norfolk House offers that same warmth today, while Castle Hill supports families who prefer a more contemporary setting.

While our locations and facilities have evolved over the years, our commitment to families has remained unchanged. We continue to combine the personal attention and traditional values upon which our reputation was built with the experience, professionalism and flexibility required to meet the diverse cultural, religious and individual needs of today’s families.

For many families, our relationship extends across generations. It is a responsibility we value deeply and a tradition Chris Timmins proudly continues through his personal involvement in every funeral entrusted to our care.

A Life Celebration is a personal and meaningful farewell that reflects the individuality of the person being remembered. Military and RSL honours

For those who have served our country, a funeral can provide an opportunity to acknowledge their service with dignity and respect. We can arrange the Australian flag, the display of medals and appropriate military or RSL tributes, including the Ode, the Last Post and a minute’s silence, working closely with local RSL sub-branches where requested.
