Our History

Since 1950 the Timmins Family have cared for families at life’s most difficult time. During that time our Head Office has always been located in one of Parramatta’s historic houses. Today the tradition continues with Chris Timmins Funerals being located in historic Norfolk House circa 1841. Our history is important to us as it is evidence of our commitment to the provision of outstanding funeral services to the families who entrust their most important possession to our care.

In 1950 my late father started in Sydney’s funeral industry. In those days it was considered a “calling”. A term long since forgotten in today’s commercial world. This was the beginning of our family’s association with the funeral industry and a tradition of service to the families of Sydney at their time of need. In 1955 my parents moved to the Parramatta area and managed a well-known funeral business of the day. In 1959 he opened his own funeral home and carried on that business till his death in 1984.

In 1997, after 6 months consideration, my family and I decided to withdraw from the funeral industry. This was our decision and taken on the basis of business and personal factors. Having fulfilled all my contractual obligations to the purchaser of my previous business my wife and I have now decided to return to the funeral industry to continue the roles we previously performed. This decision was made after long and careful consideration and a long-term commitment to the calling.

One of the major factors influencing our decision to return to the funeral industry was the number of people who contacted us directly about funerals and funeral arrangements. These people were not only our close personal friends but also those who we knew socially and merely acquaintances. All of who needed our help and understanding at the most difficult time in anyone’s life.
